The following ads are scams, and have been stolen from genuine listings by real estate agents. The prices in these scam ads are usually half of what is actually being asked, and the poster of the scam ads will ALWAYS ask for money to be sent in return for the keys! These idiots are PURE SCUM! If this ad is not pulled by Gumtree, I will keep adding those that I find, or are reported to me. If you know of any current ads that are also scams, you can email me with the ad number and headline, and I will add them to this list.
 
If you think the ad you are looking at sounds TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, check the ad number with those listed here. If you do not see it, but want to be sure, send the details in an email, and I will use my own details to research the ad for you, rather than you giving your private details to these morons! I have a rotating cycle of email addresses that I use to extract the information needed to determine the legitimacy of any ad.
 
Some of the signs of a scam are:
 
  1. Ad poster is offering a property at MUCH LESS than you know to be a realistic market value for the property.
  2. The use of terms like "hydro" (for water) and "reception room" that are not commonly used terms in the Australian real estate market.
  3. After a response to the ad, you are requested to send money for keys and lease documents.
  4. A long winded BS story about some "mission" or "crusade" and/or the fact that the poster wants you to "care for the property" as opposed to paying market rent.
  5. Posters who identify themselves as "religious" people with loving wives and daughters.
