ARTISTS, DESIGNERS + ANYBODY WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN SHARING

ARTISTS, DESIGNERS  + ANYBODY WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN SHARING A LEASE FOR A SHOP with DWELLING.

I am currently looking at various units with shop fronts in Melbourne’s inner city, looking for someone interested in sharing a lease for a commercial space.

The gist of the idea:

Lease a commercial space with the appropriate amount of space, good exposure and location for a reasonable amount of rent (maximum 175pw per person  + rates This is just a maximum figure, less would be ideal). This space will act both as a residence and as workshop/shop/gallery.

Hoping to share with a group of like-minded people who are able to take advantage of a shop/gallery and possibly a workshop space, to gain some exposure and make some business. The venue could possibly host regular exhibitions for any artists.

In theory I imagine that residence would hold and maintain a job of some description and couldn’t dedicate too much time to running a shop, the shop wouldn’t have to be open regular hours and we as a group could share the running of the shop, maybe one or two days a week, rotating weekend rosters etc. as well as being open by appointment.

My name is Elliot Gorham; I have recently completed a Visual Arts Degree with honors at the ANU Art School in Canberra. I am a conceptual designer making all types of furniture, with aesthetics, quality and sometimes ergonomics. I currently work as furniture maker at Airport West, but crave making more of my own designs. I’m interested in sharing a place with fun, energetic, mature minded people. I would like to share ideas in a constructive environment and be inspired and influenced in a dynamic communal environment.
