HELP US HELP THEM!
Would you like a dog/cat, but aren't yet ready to have one due to study, travelling, renting, etc. Or do you already have a pet, but would like for it to have some company during the day & can't afford the vet bills of 2? Perhaps fostering might be the answer!!
Through no fault of their own tens of thousands of dogs/cats are euthanased in pounds in Australia every year. Many of these pets are suitable to be rehomed into loving human families but sadly are not given a chance. There are shelters that help some of these animals find good homes, however they are overburdened with the sheer volume of pets that end up in the pounds.
The more foster carers there are, the more lives that can be saved!
Duties:
Foster carers provide food, shelter, exercise and love until the pet is adopted. Sometimes this can take a few days, and other times it may take several months. Foster carers also assess their foster pet to ensure it can be matched to a perfect home. Basic training may be required, however all vetwork is paid for by the rescue group.
Being a foster carer isn't a job for everyone and often a few tears are shed when they go to their new homes, however the fulfilment and sense of purpose you receive in knowing that you helped one more pet find its way into a safe, happy home is overwhelming & extremely worthwhile.

Would you still like to be involved in pet rescue, but are not able to foster? Rescue groups always require volunteers to help with transport, admin, fundraising, donations, sponsorship, etc.
