I am looking for employment in any general positions relative to the above.
I am an Australian that has been living and working in the U.K. for the past twelve and a half years. For the past seven years I have been working as an Administrative Assistant in the British Civil service. This was for the Department of Work and Pensions dealing with disability benefits.
My duties included filing, taking action on post, composing letters, registering claims, issuing certificates, data input on a computer system and taking phone calls. I also assisted colleagues who were not computer literate.
I have now returned to Australia and would like to continue in a career that I am both skilled in, and enjoy.
Skills & Aptitudes:
I have an open and friendly personality and am easily approachable as I have been a mentor to those who are less skilled in IT and a liaison officer between my team and IT support. I enjoy working as part of a team and find it easy to take on board and learn from constructive criticism. I gain personal satisfaction from assisting customers and am fully aware of the importance of both the internal and external customer. I am meticulous in my working methods and am able to work effectively on my own initiative. In doing this I always consider overall constraints such as time factors and the needs of the whole team. My skills with computers I consider to be advanced. I can install and configure software and have a very good knowledge of the Windows XP operating system. I am very experienced with Microsoft word and have used many other applications such as excel, Macromedia Fireworks and Adobe Photoshop to name a few.
I am also practically minded and used to more physical work and I am used to a factory environment as well. I have worked with complex computer operated machinery and various power tools.
