Hi All,
A ride offered from Melbourne direct to Mount Isa QLD or via sydney if you prefer. I was living there for 2 years and am moving to melbourne with my girlfriend, will be returning to mount isa then back to melbourne again. My rough plan is melb->mount isa, around 2-3 weeks staying in mount isa to finish organising all my stuff there, then back to melbourne again. This could be a good chance for someone wanting to do some work in australia. The pay in mount isa is a lot higher than any other place in australia and there are heaps of jobs. If you have any skills at all, you can earn AU$100k/year+. In addition to this, doing 3 months work in the mining rural sector allows you to get a further one year working holiday visa (just like doing 3 months fruit picking) only you can earn a lot more money there. This could be a chance for someone to drive up very cheaply (plane tickets are about $800 one way!) and get a feel for the town. The weather is good up north right now, plenty of sun and it only rains about twice a year. If you find that you get a job and happy to live there, great. If it doesnt work out, you can always jump back in the car with me and down to melbourne/sydney. Im a 30year old easy going non smoking aussie guy, driving a 98 model falcon wagon. The car is low mileage, very reliable, comfortable and well maintained, quiet, and cheap to drive on LPG. I have heaps of room on the way up, but will be bringing stuff down with me, could still fit a backpack or two. I am flexible on the leave date, could extend it out up to another week or so if someone was interested. Can also go via sydney if you wanted to pickup something or if you are in sydney and headed to mount isa. Most of all would like to have someone along for the ride to help with the driving / keep me company so i dont fall asleep! would ask you to contribute something for petrol if you are able to.
