Date Listed: 18/08/2008 ATTENTION ACTORS OF MELBOURNE, if you're looking for an "out there" acting experience that incorporates comedy and blue blood, then climb on board the 'Penmanship' production. 'Penmanship' is a comedy centred around Brian, a struggling writer, who is up late one night frantically trying to write a new story but can barely formulate a sentence. When Brian drops his pen in frustration, a man appears before him claiming to be his pen and will not leave Brian alone until he thinks of something worth writing about. There are 6 male roles, which are listed below in detail... Brian...(HUMAN - Early 30's) Thin, caucasian (preferably someone who is flexible shaving and growing facial hair). Is capable of being very expressive with his face and has acted in comedy or is confident being in the spotlight. The key emotion for Brian is Frustration. Young Man...(PEN - Early-late 20's) Thin, caucasian, clean shaven. Is able to slick back his hair. The character exudes an air of confidence and due to his laid back/deadpan nature is able to provoke and irritate someone without much energy. Pen Troop Leader...(PEN - Late 30's/Early 40's) Short caucasian. Is flexible with voice acting and can project voice strongly. the character is very sure of himself and ready to boss people around but has to hide behind his men in moments of physical conflict. The Third Pen Trooper...(PEN - Mid to late 20's) Tall, fit caucasian. Is confident with being melodramatic. The Two Pen Troopers...(PENS - Mid to late 20's) Non speaking roles. 2 x tall, fit caucasians. We will be holding auditions for all of these rolls on Thursday 28th August 12.00pm-6.00pm and also on Saturday 30th August 12.00pm-6.00pm at Deakin University 221 Burwood Hwy, Burwood. SHOOTING DATES are the 11th, 12th and 13th of September (location TBA).
