The New Hope Foundation supports newly emerging ethnic groups and refugee/special humanitarian entrants in the Western region of Melbourne through our current office, which is located on 21 Victoria Street Footscray. This office is a resource centre for refugees, providing access for community activities and office space and supported by volunteers from the community.
 
We also offer volunteer opportunities in community engagement, agency orientation and social support activities with refugee groups.
 
Specifically, this could involve your participation in assisting people with finding accommodation, taking people to booked medical appointments, orientation tours of local services with clients, food access and nutritional programs, awareness of local environment which may include trips to local parks and amenities, assisting clients to link up with recreational and sporting clubs, community gardening initiatives, sewing and craft activities, setting up and/or running internet/computer classes. All activities are targeting newly arrived refugee groups.
 
Volunteers can be adults working or retired university students, senior high school students, older refugee migrant students or anyone with a keen interest in working with new arrivals. Previous experience is not essential.
